Oando, Honeywell, Chrome, 50 Others Bid for Power DISCOs
Several blue-chip Nigerian companies have bid for the 11 Power Distribution companies (DISCOs) slated for privatization by the Federal Government. The companies met the deadline for submission of their technical and financial proposals which came up yesterday.
Some of the companies to submit bids include Oando Gas and Power, Honeywell Energy and Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing.
Companies that also met the deadline include Interstate Electrics Ltd, a joint venture between Chrome Energy and Power House International. Chrome Energy is owned by controversial businessman Emeka Offor.
NAHCO Energy and Power (a subsidiary of NAHCO Aviance) and its technical partners Empower of Finland also met the deadline. Other companies to bid include Skipper Energy, Tata Power and Eni Consortium.
The Power DISCOs up for privatization are Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Benin Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Kano Electricity Distribution Company Plc; Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company Plc; and Yola Electricity Distribution Company Plc.
The evaluation of the technical bids by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) will take place between August 14 and August 28, 2012.
